To ensure all members and guests visiting Lake Salisbury experience a quiet, peaceful, and safe family setting for boating, fishing, and swimming.

Lake Rules and Regulations

Scope:

            The policy applies to a Member, his/her family, or guest

Rules and Regulations:

 

  1. Membership is the Lake Salisbury Association shall be limited to owners of  lots fronting on the Lake and all owners of  lots in Salisbury, in accordance with, and subject to, the Lake Salisbury Declaration of Covenants, Restrictions and Conditions, the Articles of Incorporation of Lake Salisbury, and the Lake Salisbury Bylaws.
  2. Lake Salisbury property is open ½ hour before sunrise and ½ hour after sunset.
  3. Members must have their membership cards in their possession when on Association property.
  4. When lifeguards, volunteers or security guards are present, members must show their cards for EACH member of the family.
  5. Guests:
    1. Maximum number of guests is five (5) per family.
    2. Must be accompanied by a member at all times. Any guest not properly identified with this card shall be subject to arrest for trespassing.
    3. Each family will be issued a one (1) time “25 guests card.”
    4. Each member is responsible for the behavior of his/her guest(s).
  6. All Virginia State game and fishing laws shall apply.
  7. Sizes of watercraft, except canoes which may not exceed 18 feet, and rowing shells which may not exceed 22 feet, shall be limited to a 15 foot classification; No gasoline powered or other internal combustion engine, either outboard or inboard shall be permitted. Electric motors using a maximum voltage of 24 volts shall be permitted.
  8.  The boat-launch ramp may be used only to launch boats.
  9. Picnic pavilion, except for functions sponsored by the Association during normal hours, may be used only by Lake Members and their guests only.
  10. The swimming, beach, and sundeck areas:
    1. Reserved strictly for swimming and sunbathing.
    2. No fishing.
    3. No boating, except to launch a boat from the boat ramp.
    4. No glass containers.
    5. No dogs.
    6. No Frisbee or ball playing due to limited amount of beach area.
    7. No loud playing of radios at the beach, pavilion, or parking areas.
    8. Float toys in the water shall be at the discretion of the lifeguards.
    9. Swimmers are not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages.
    10. Alcohol abuse will not be allowed, and minors are forbidden alcohol.
    11. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a person aged 16 or older.
    12. Floats are to be used as a resting platform only.  No drinks or food allowed in the lake.
    13. The lifeguards are not responsible for the safety of swimmers in areas outside the ropes or floats (Designated Swimming Area).
    14. No diving or jumping allowed from the sun deck.  Anyone diving or swimming from the sun deck shall be expelled from the lake property.
    15. Lifesaving boat and equipment may be used only by the lifeguards.
    16. No recreational scuba diving is allowed.
    17.  During adult swim all children under the age of 16 must be out of the water; this includes the shallow area. Guards are not watching swimmers at this time.
    18. No rinsing of diapers/swim diapers in the water as this will contaminate the water.
  11. No parties; no exceptions due to limited area of beach and swimming safety concerns.
  12. No diving from fishing pier.
  13. Other than during times of observable member activity, entrance gates are to remain closed and locked.
  14. DO NOT give or lend your key to a guest or anyone FOR ANY REASON.  Protect your property.
  15. No unlicensed motor vehicle will be allowed on the lake property.  Use of the spillway for skateboards or bicycles is prohibited.  Licensed vehicles only allowed in the parking area.
  16. No firearms, BB guns, pellet guns, or other weapons will be allowed on lake property.
  17.  No fireworks are allowed on lake property.
  18. If any Member, his/her family, or guests violates these Rules, the Lake Salisbury Association Declaration of Covenants, Restrictions and Conditions, the Articles of Incorporation of Lake Salisbury, or the Lake Salisbury Association Bylaws, such violation shall result in suspension of the use of the Lake and its facilities by the Member and  his/her guests, as determined by the Board of Directors, for a period of time determined by the Board of Directors, in its sole discretion.
  19. Swimming, boating, ice-skating, and any other use of the Lake, beach, pavilion, and other Lake property belonging to the Lake Salisbury Association will be at the user’s risk and the Lake Salisbury Association will not be responsible for the injuries or safety of any kind.
  20. Parking is limited to the graveled are next to the beach and pavilion. No parking is allowed along Chalkwell Drive or Oakengate Lane.
  21. Any exceptions to the rules require approval of the Lake Front Coordinator and the Lake Association.
